Activity 8: Write a composition (fiction story) about one of the atmospheric phenomena you have described above. (You will be reading this to Sarah next Tuesday).

The king killing elephantsWhen the  king was killing elephants he realiced that at two meters of him there was the biggest elephant in africa. The king shooted him and when the enormous criature fell into the ground an earthquake began. The cities in Africa started to vibrate and suddenly, the floor separated in two parts. At the right part everybody survived but in the left part.... more than 345.000 people died (including the desapeared people) the earthquake caused a damage that costed around  6 million euros to be repaired.

UNIT 3 - CLIMATE AND LIVING THINGS

Activity 1: Write a definition for  atmosphere and describe it explaining the names of its different layers and the most important characteristics of each layer.
the atmosphere is a layer of air that surrounds the earth it is composed of the  troposphere is the closest layer to the earth it is essential for live on earth, stratosphere 10-km altitude it is 20 km km upwards the ozone zone, mesosphere 50-80 km altitude temperatures drop quickly falling as low as 90ºc,thermosphere 80-500km altitude temperatures reach over 1000ºc,exosphere the outer limit of the atmospherewitch begins at an altitude of 500 km
Activity 2: Explain the differences between weather and climate. What is the Climatology?the differences are that the weather changes and the climate doesn't
the climatology is the study of climate

Activity 3: The elements of climate.
- Write a short description of each the following concepts.
- Search and paste images related to each of these concepts.
- Temperature -temperature is the amount of heat in the earth
- Precipitation-precipitation is water from the atmosphere that falls onto the earths surface

- Atmospheric pressure-the pressure that that the atmospheres weight exerts on the earths surface
-

-wind-is air that moves areas of low pressure to areas of high presure

Activity 4: The Earth´s climates. Write a description of the different climates of the Earth explaining its most important characteristics: Tropical (Equatorial, Humid Tropical and Hot deset), Temperate (Mediterranean, HYumid Sub-Tropical, Maritime, Continental), and Cold (Polar and Alpine)

Equatorial- temperatures are  high  throughout the year the mean  annual temperature is over 20ºc

Humid Tropical- temperatures are high throughout the year .the mean annual temperatures are is over 20ºc

Hot deset- temperatures are high.the main annual temperature is over 20ºc

Mediterranean- temperatures are mild in winter and hot in sumer.the mean annual temperature is over 10ºc and 20ºc

HYumid Sub-Tropical- temperatures are simillar to the mediterranean climate

Maritime- temperatures are moderate troughout the year ,mild in winter and cool in sumemer

Continental- temperatures are very cold in winter and hot in summer

Polar - temperatures are very low not exceeding the 0ºc except the in some places at summer

Alpine-temperatures fall with altitude .winters are cold and sumer cool

Activity 5: Write a definition for the following concepts:
- Torrential
-this is asociated with storms
- Moderate
-
- Scarce
-
- Crack
-
- Burrow
-
- Hibernation
-
- Spin
-
- Overflow
-
- Livestock
-

UNIT 2 EXERCISES

                                                                                                                                                                                                              DEFINITIONS

CRUST-THE  CRUST  IS  THE  SURFACE  LAYER, IT IS A THIN,SOLID  LAYER  MADE  UP  OF A SOLID PART AND A LIQUID PART.

MANTLE- THE MANTLE IS THE SECOND LAYER, THE LAYER  IS ALMOST 85% OF EARTH VOLUME.

CORE-THE CORE HAS A DEPTH  OF  3000  TO  OVER  6000  KM

MAGMA-MAGMA IS MOLTEN ROCK.

WHAT TEMPERATURE  CAN  BE  REACHED  IN  THE  CORE  OF  THE  EARTH?

THE TEMPERATURE  IN  THE  CORE  REACHES  ABOUT  6500º .

WHO  WAS  ALFRED   WAGENER?ALFRED WEGENER  IS  THE  SCIENTIST  THAT  OUTLINED  THE  CONTINENTAL  DRIFT  THEORY.

WHAT  IS  PANGAEA?PANGAEA  WAS  SURROUNDED  TRHOW A  SINGLE  OCEAN  CALLED  TETHYS  SEA.

DESCRIBE  THE  EVOLUTION  OF  PANGAEA  AND  EXPLAIN  THE  RELATIONSHIP  BETWEEN  TECTONIC  PLATES  AND  EARTHQUAKE.

THE PANGAEA  BROKE  UP  MAKING  THE  CONTINENTS THIS  CONTINENTS  ARE  NOT  FIXED  BUT  THEY  ARE  MOOVING   BECAUSE   THE  CRUST  IS  DIVIDED  INTO  SEVERAL  PLATES  CALLED  TECTONIC   PLATES  WHEN  THE  TECTONIC  PLATES  COLLIDE   EARTHQUAKES  AND  VOLCAM  ERUPTIONS  ARE  PRDUCED.

HOW  MANY  CONTINENTS HAVE WE  GOT  ON PLANET EARTH?PASTE  A  MAP  OF  THE  WORLD  WITH  THE  NAME  OF  THE  CONTINENTS
TTHERE ARE 5 CONTINENTS:AMERIA,  ASIA  ,AFRICA,  ANTARTIDA  AND  EUROPE

NAME  MOST  IMPORTANT  OCEANS  IN  OF  THE  WORLD.

INDIAN OCEAN,ATLANTIC  OCEAN,ANTARTIC  OCEAN AND  THE  PACIFIC  OCEAN.

THE RELIEF IS THE RESULT OF THE INTERNAL  FORCES  OF THE EARTH AND EXTERNAL AGENTS.WRITE AN EXAMPLE OF THE ACTION OF INTERNAL FORCES.NAME THE EXTERNAL AGENTS THAT CAUSE THE EROSION AND MODELING OF EARTHS RELIEF.

THE INTERNAL  FORCES  ARE  THE  RESPONSABLE  OF  THE  ORIGIN  AND ELEVATION.
THE EXTERNAL AGENTS THAT CAUSE THE  EROSION AND MODELING  OF  EARTHS  RELIEF  ARE: WIND RAIN AND TEMPERATURES.

WRITE DEFINITIONS

MOUNTAIN:MOUNTAIS ARE LAND MASES THAT SURROUNDS HIGH ABOVE  AREA ARROUND

PLAIN:PLAINS  ARE  LARGE  FLAT TRACKS OF LAND

VALLE:THERE  ARE  SUNKEN  LAND   AND  ARE  SORROUNDED  BY  MOUNTAINS  OR  RIDGES

HILL:

RIVER:NATURAL STREAM  OF  WATER  THAT  FLOWS  IN  A  CHANEL

DELTA: LOW-LYING  PLAIN  COMPOSED  OF  STREAM-BRONE  DEPOSITED  BY A RIVER AS ITS MOUTH

ESTUARY:A FLOW  OF  WATER   IN  A CHANEL  LIKE  A SAMALL RIVER

GLACIER: IS  A  LARGE  MAS  OF  ICE   THAT FORMS ON  LAND.

GROWNDWATER:WATER  THAT  OCURRES  BELOW  THE  GROWND

LAKE:STENDING  WATER  THAT  OCUPY  AN  INLAND  BASIN
